Carstairs Junction Primary School & ELC is a co-educational, non denominational school situated in a rural area of Clydesdale in South Lanarkshire. The current roll in the Primary School is 79 and our ELC can cater for 30 children. There are 3 mainstream classes and the school has an Additional Support Needs Base which caters for 26 children. We promote positive and nurturing relationships within the school and foster an ethos which encourages all pupils to respect themselves and others.
The new school building was opened in 2013 and provides an excellent, modern environment in which our children can learn and achieve.
We are a “Making Rights Real” accredited school and have recently achieved our 6th Eco Green Flag status.
We have an active and engaged Parent Council who play an integral role in school life and an interested Parent Forum who support the school in many ways.
The school works in partnership with the Community led action group to drive forward their vision to develop community projects.

Uniform is smart, practical and an economic way of clothing your child for school. At Carstairs Junction our uniform is:
Indoor: shorts, leggings or joggers and t-shirt and indoor shoes
Outdoor: leggings or joggers, t-shirt, jumper and outdoor shoes
Please note, in line with current guidance, all PE sessions are taking place outdoors in our MUGA pitch. A warm, waterproof jacket is recommended as children will be spending more time outdoors. Uniform items can be purchased from most big Supermarkets or ALJ Work & Leisurewear in Lanark.
- Grey trousers/skirt/pinafore or maroon & navy tartan kilt/pinafore
- White shirt/blouse with school tie or white polo shirt
- Maroon sweatshirt/jumper/cardigan/tank top

Primary 6&7 is £2.05 (from 17th April 2023)
If your child is in Primary 6&7 or secondary they may be entitled to a free school meal if you receive certain benefits, see the free school meals link above for full details. Lunches, including milk, are paid for through Parent Pay online, details of which will be provided by school. If your child has any food allergies please contact the school directly.
